Services at St. Brelades and The Cumberland carehomes

Worship

It is the right of every service user to continue to observe her faith. Services for a range of faiths are held at the Home and we will always endeavour to arrange for a representative of your religion to visit the Home or if possible for you to attend a place of your particular worship, should you so wish.

Reverend Barbara Nicholson from St Bartholomews church holds an Anglican service on the first Thursday of each month.

Father Patrick from the Catholic Church visits twice a month to administer Holy Communion or attends by request.

Pets

Having to leave everything you know behind can be incredibly upsetting and unsettling so pets are welcome to visit.

Pets hold a special place in many people’s hearts and lives and bring love, fun and freindship. There is evidence that spending with time with your pets can be beneficial to our physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

There is no restriction on pets visiting the Home unless a specific pet is likely to adversely affect the health, safety or personal rights of other service users or members of staff.

Visits must be discussed with the manager before they are undertaken.

Due to the nature of illness of service users at St Brelades beloved pets cannot be admitted to St Brelades to stay

Hairdressing

No matter who we are, appearance matters! and we believe that personal grooming is vitally important in maintaining a sense of well-being and self worth.

Personal appearance effects how we see ourselves and helps to maintain dignity and self-respect.

During the week, we have an experienced and professional  visiting hairdresser who provides a quality hairdressing service at a reasonable cost.

You can, of course, visit a salon outside the Home if you wish, or a hairdresser of your choice can use the Home’s facilities.
