The accommodation at St Brelades & The Cumberland includes spacious Victorian rooms along with a modern purpose built extension at the rear facing garden area. The bedrooms are all comfortable, each with their own private washing facilities and many with en-suite WCs. A commode is also available in all rooms on request. The bedrooms vary in size from comfortable twin rooms to very large single rooms with sea views. Service users are encouraged to bring in items of furniture, pictures etc to personalise their rooms.
There are three large sitting rooms, two with a TV and Video/DVD system together with a music centre for CDs and tapes in all sitting rooms. There are also quieter rooms for visitors and service users for relaxing.
There are two chairlifts to access the upper floors at St Brelades, and three chairlifts at The Cumberland. A nurse call bell system is installed throughout the Homes which allows service users to communicate with the staff. It is operated by pushing a button or pulling a cord in the service users rooms, in the toilets or bathroom areas. The system is connected to the main panel in the Homes and staff will respond to all calls received.
There is ample space throughout the buildings enabling easy access to the Homes facilities and garden area. The garden is maintained throughout the year and there is a patio and garden area with easy access for service users to enjoy.
The Homes kitchen is situated on the ground floor with two additional kitchenettes. The homes kitchen is always open for inspection by anyone, however please ensure that you ask the Manager to accompany you for health and safety purposes.
The two main dining rooms are close by the kitchen. Service users enjoy communal dining here at lunch and teatime.
The Homes central laundry is also located on the ground floor . The laundry deals with all the service users laundry requirements, except dry cleaning.
The homes bathrooms are fully equipped with hoist facilities for safe bathing.
